FACTS

The parrot climbing headfirst down a tree trunk has been faithfully reproduced by Johann Joachim Kaendler as if in a snapshot.

With the tip of its tail stretched upwards and its wings slightly spread, the exotic bird spirals upwards in full life-size and thus becomes a sculpture visible from all sides.

The many interruptions and overlaps in the plumage create an extremely lively appearance with an expansive character.

Kaendler has succeeded like no other in transforming the natural form with its typical characteristics into a work of art that is characterised by its own unique style.
