Set amidst the hotel’s leafy grounds, a special highlight of Schindelbruch cuisine awaits you: the Jagdhaus Holzeule. The historic half-timbered house has been given a fresh new coat of paint, combining a rustic atmosphere with modern culinary delights. In the Loop, right next to the Holzeule, the new kiosk with its BBQ station invites you to enjoy relaxed moments of indulgence in the open air. Flowing seamlessly into the space, our ‘Kokon’ – a stylish lounge area – offers a place to linger, enjoy yourself and socialise – surrounded by the natural beauty of the hotel park.
The Josephskreuz has been attracting visitors to the Großer Auerberg since as early as 1834. However, the wooden structure, designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, was struck by lightning in 1880 and burnt down almost completely. In 1896, the new double cross was erected as an iron structure.
In 1928, the Princes of Stolberg had a hunting lodge built halfway up the mountain – and in doing so, they reused preserved wooden beams from the original Josephskreuz.
With the princely ‘Jagdhaus Schindelbruch’, the landscape district of the same name came into being.

The kitchen is open from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm, serving a small lunch menu.
From 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm, we serve dishes from our small à la carte menu. Advance
bookings are recommended.

Here, light snacks, ice cream and drinks are served or available to take away by the pool.

Our restaurant is a place for indulgence and special moments. We therefore ask that you dress smartly for dinner. Bathrobes, swimwear, pool shoes and very casual leisure or sportswear are not in keeping with the ambience of our establishment.
As places are limited, a booking is required at our reception or in the restaurant.
You are also welcome to dine à la carte in our main restaurant, the Schindelbruch, or at the Hotel & Spa Suiten FreiWerk.
